6 Days Marangu Route Mount Kilimanjaro Climb for Leisure

About this experience

Kilimanjaro is one of the world’s most accessible high summits, a beacon for visitors from around the world. Most climbers reach the crater rim with little more than a walking stick, proper clothing and determination. And those who reach Uhuru Point, the actual summit, or Gillman’s Point on the lip of the crater, will have earned their climbing certificates. And their memories.

But there is so much more to Kili than her summit. The ascent of the slopes is a virtual climatic world tour, from the tropics to the Arctic.

Even before you cross the national park boundary (at the 2,700m contour), the cultivated foot slopes give way to lush montane forest, inhabited by elusive elephant, leopard, buffalo, the endangered Abbot’s duiker, and other small antelope and primates. Higher still lies the moorland zone, where a cover of giant heather is studded with otherworldly giant lobelias.

Before you go

  • Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness

What is included

  • National Park entrance, accommodation and camping fees.
  • Crisis management apparatus – VHF 2-way mobile phone, basic first aid kit and an on call vehicle.
  • Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner on day 1-5 and breakfast & Lunch on day 6 of your trip.
  • All food and catering equipment – breakfasts, lunches (packed when necessary) and evening meals

  • Luggage allowance for your main bag that will be carried by a porter, up to max. 15 kg.
  • Cook and adequate porters to carry both trip provisions and client’s private bags.
  • Dinner
  • Accommodation as detailed on the itinerary.

  • Free storage of excess baggage not required on the mountain hike.
  • Professional mountain guides, cooks and porters.
  • All Park fees, Rescue fees, Huts fees, and 18% VAT on tour fees and service.
  • Filtered water throughout the trek.
  • Access to emergency oxygen and first aid kit.
  • Kilimanjaro certificate for your successful summit attempt.
  • Pre and Post hotel before and the next day after trek -Can be arranged upon request at an extra cost
  • Transportation to & from the mountain gate.
  • 3-4 porters per climber, which includes porters to carry up to 30 lbs of your personal gear.
  • Pick up and drop off at Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport.
  • Special dietary requirements are catered for with prior arrangements at no extra cost.

  • Travel and personal accident insurance.
  • Visa, passport, vaccinations, medicines.
  • Personal Mountain equipment
  • Expenditure on alcoholic drinks, souvenirs and other personal items.
  • Optional excursions not detailed in the itinerary.
  • Extra costs incurred in case of own intentional change of itinerary while already on trek.
  • Portable flush toilet with a toilet tent is extra (US$100 per toilet + toilet tent)
  • Mountain gears + Sleeping bag (can be rented, please ask us at the time of the booking).
  • Inoculations and personal insurance and all other services that are not mentioned as included.
  • The minimum amount is 15 USD per guide, 10 USD per cook and 10 USD per porter, all are per day.
